The DUIFG has its own student-run fund that invests in a variety of financial instruments and markets.

Established in 2007, the DUIFG Fund manages investments in a diverse range of financial products. Taking both long and short positions within the markets, its aims are to:

• Maximise returns;
• Educate Fund members by demystifying the investment process;
• Promote careers within Sales and Trading, and Asset Management Firms.

The elected Fund Team consists of around 30 Analysts within 10 Sector Teams lead by the Fund Managers Dimitar Boyadzhiev and Tiantian Kullander. Each sector is led by a sector leader. The ten sectors are:

• TMT (Technology, Media & Telecoms)
• Metals and Mining
• Oil and Gas
• Pharmaceuticals
• Utilities and Energy
• Financials
• Retail and Consumer Services
• Autos, Aerospace and Defence
• Travel and Leisure
• Real Estate and Construction

Fund meetings are conducted fortnightly throughout the year to assess portfolio strategy, stock proposals and sector overviews. For all proposals, detailed research notes are written from the specific teams relating to the investment objective.

The fund is managed by a team of analysts, who are divided into ten sectors and are appointed annually.
